A Short Film Written, Directed and Produced by Karen Anstee.

The script for short film, Approval Needed, was winner of the 2017 IMDb Script to Screen Audience Award and then went on to win a funding award from Talkies Community Cinema in association with Short Sighted Cinema.

Featuring a beautiful original score by Nicki Wells, the film was shot on location in Palmers Green, North London and premiered at the HERE festival in April 2018. The film has since screen at multiple festivals including a screening at the BFI National Film Theatre during the BAFTA qualifying Underwire Festival, with Arinder Sadhra being nominated for Best Actor.  Its journey continues under the wing of Festival Formula, an agency that creates bespoke festival submissions strategies for quality projects – its an honour to be included on their slate.

Synopsis

Approval Needed is a comedy-drama which tells the tale of a lonely traffic warden who suffers abuse at the hands of angry drivers.  But, just when life seems irredeemably terrible, she finds love and an unexpected friend at the supermarket checkout.
